Sandra Nelson Terry departed this life and entered the gates of heaven on March 23, 2015. Sandy was born in Harrisville, WV, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Nelson. She was predeceased by sister, Loretta Stickel and brother, Ronnie Nelson. Survivors include her loving husband Jay Terry, daughter, Shannon Chaffin of Gloucester, VA, a step daughter, Whitney Coleman of Chesapeake, two step sons, Wesley Terry of Chesapeake, Ivan Terry of Aransas Pass, TX, thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Mary Lou Cox of Vienna, WV. Sandy was formerly employed at CHKD as payroll manager before having to retire on disability due to her long battle with cancer. She was an active member of Great Bridge Church of Christ and was a member of the worship team. Sandy had a passion for music and singing. She began singing for the Lord as a little girl. She played the piano, organ, accordion and various other instruments. Many have said that Sandy had a very kind and loving nature. She loved the Lord and shared that love with everyone she knew. Wedding Aboard the USS Wisconsin is Still On

  A couple that was supposed to get married aboard the USS Wisconsin had their wedding postponed due to the government shutdown. Although the USS Wisconsin is owned by the city of Norfolk and Nauticus, events aboard the ship are coordinated by the Hampton Roads Naval Museum, a government-funded organization.
